Saita Publications participates in the “Read an eBook” week 2015

2002: The author Rita. Y Toews organizes, for the first time, the “Read an eBook” week, «Διαβάστε ένα eBook», which aims for the public awareness of the advantages of digital reading. The idea is adopted quickly and embraced by readers, authors, publishers and reporters, earning international appeal.

2012: The Library of the Department of Electronics and Computers of AUTH participates for the first time, in the “Read an eBook” week, by uploading, along with events and actions, a relative website.

Readings, “releases” and book exchanges, exhibitions, performances, chosen music, and broadcasting meetings will be taking place at the Art and Cultural Center, BETON7 for the occasion of the literature festival “an idea-a word-a speech”. A few days before Christmas, on December 22 and 23, the new literature festival, which will aspire to become an institution and evolve into a platform of live and meaningful communication between authors, readers, and everyone who loves book and ideas, invite you to travel with them.

The Network for Children’s Rights organizes a campaign for the Children’s Rights, with the help of more than 50 organizations, museums and cultural operations, and among them, there is our colorful “saita” (paper plane). Under the motto “Defending my rights, reclaiming my childhood” several events have been planned to take place from November 19 till December 10. In the context of these events, Saita Publications, in collaboration with the Office of School Activities of the Directory of Primary Education in Kavala and the Department of School Activities- cultural issues of the Directory of Secondary Education in Kavala, is organizing the events.

The Association of Visual Arts and Art lovers of Kavala are organizing a charity exhibition-bazaar in the Public Tobacco Warehouse. The event will take place on Wednesday, 12^th of November at 7pm. In association with the Medical Association, the Pharmaceutical Association and the Doctors of the World (Γιατροί του Κόσμου), they will help the children of the area to get vaccinated.

Our “saita” (paper plane) has taken off on one if its “flights” to the Kavala Expo 2014 Fair, and to the letters which lead to literature works, and once they are freed, they embark on a journey on the colorful “saita”(paper plane) wings. From today until Wednesday, October 1, we welcome you to travel with us towards the open literature and to the digital pages of our books!

Our “saita” (paper plane) took a different flight today from 18.30 to 22.00. It “flew” to the exchange book bazaar, which was organized by the Time Bank of Kavala at the Kapnergatis Square.

Our little bookmarks with the website of Saita Publications printed, were there too among various books, which were priced in “TEM” (Alternative Monetary Unit). More specifically, the bookmarks were in the area of the literature books written by both Greek and foreign authors, and they were handed out free of charge to all visitors. There had been many visitors showing an interest in the “flights” of “saita”, and the way they can have access to the books of Saita Publications.

Starting with the capture moments from the town of Kavalas through the photographic lens of Anastasios Vogiatzidis, and the motivational strength of the children’s enthusiasm taking part in the constructing musical instruments from recycled materials workshop, by Iraklis Lampadariou, the side action of the 57th Festival of Filippi “Life Steps, human moments” was completed at Πεντακόσια (Pentakosia) of Kavala.

Today the Sports and Games Festival will take place at the Fortress of Kavalas, with various actions and games. Some of these are Saitas, who is the media sponsor of this particularly important initiative, which is for the return of children to the neighborhood with collective games.

In the courtyard of the former Elementary School of Mousthenis, the children of the village gathered to hear stories from the Study Group, Preservation and Dissemination of the Folktale and Game “The Storytellers”, to play traditional games and to make paper constructions in the relative workshop of Saita Publications.

The game starts, we are coming out to the neighborhoods!

Πελοπίδας ο Πυγολαμπίδας (Pelopidas the Firefly) was a child of an older generation. It was a time when they knew how to have a good time playing simple games around the neighborhood together with the other children. Their laughs and voices would fill the alleys and there were many times that a neighbor would come out on the balcony to complain.

Saita Publications has scheduled a flight for Sunday the 20th of July, to the 17th Festival of Pierias Valley, scheduled time flight of two hours. Boarding time is set for 12.00, and on the flight the children are welcome, so they can create constructions and handcrafts with the book as their theme, in the courtyard of the Elementary School Mousthenis.

We welcome you at our activity, which has been co-organized by the Cultural Association Mousthenis, “To Παγγαίο” (Paggaio).

Saita “flies” in exchanges!

Saita Publications took a different flight today from 19.00 to 23.00 to the alternative bazaar, which was organized by the Τράπεζα Χρόνου (Time Bank) of the Social Structures Instant Response to Poverty “Στηρίζω” (Support) at the Municipality Kavalas in Kanaris square.

Among the different products which were priced with “TEM” (unit replacement values), and specifically in the field of books, there were also bookmarks with the electronic address of Saita Publications. They were handed out, free of charge, to all the visitors. Many expressed interest to learn more about the digital books of Saita Publications, and where they could read them.

The Director of the Philippi Festival and the Municipal Regional Theatre of Κavala (ΔΗ.ΠΕ.ΘΕ), Thodoris Gonis, invites citizens of all ages to the Philippi Festival «Πεντακόσια στα Χείλια», where they can interact with plays, musicals, Dance Theatre, events, workshops, reading groups, exhibitions and lectures.

Flights of Saita Publications have been scheduled for Friday 20 and Saturday 21 June at the “kids’ zone” of the 4th Kavala AirSea Show 2014!

At the basketball court of Faliro Park from 10:00 to 13:30 and from 16:00 to 00:00, the little visitors will be able to make their own shuttle, to decorate it and participate in the contest of Shuttle Throwing which is organized for the first time in Kavala. They can choose between four shuttle designs (arrow, delta, classic dart and bullet) or draw their own shuttle in blank paper of A4 size. Moreover, they will be able to make little helicopters with paper and paperclip. All the shuttle designs will bring on their wings the Saita Publications’ logo as well as the Show’s mascot, the seagull in black and white so that the children may paint them the way they want.

Today, the World Day Against Child Labour was the best triggering event for the amusement of the third grade pupils in the 10th elementary school of Kavala in the garden of «ΠΝΟΗ» (Breath), an association for the child and the family. Essentially, they took part in an outdoor feast with lots of activities and handicrafts.

From 13:00 to 15:00 groups of children and visitors of every age seeked the lost treasure, activity organized by Saita Publications and supported by volunteers of Youth Voluntarism and Development of Kavala in the context of the 6^th Wood Water Wild Festival at the Old Town of Kavala.

On Holy Saturday (April 19, 2014) from 11:30 am until 13:00 pm a narration of the tale “The Shoes on the Dusty Shelf” and a creative paper shoes workshop will take place at the area in front of Konstantinos Kanaris’ bust (coastal Ave Ethnikis Antistaseos, Kavala).

The teachers and authors Stavroula Papadopoulou and Maria Chatzi in the context of spring days “Company with an Author” presented their fairytale “The Top Button” by Saita Publications at libraries of Thessaloniki municipality.

“Water and Soil” at the Public Library of Rafina-Pikermi Municipality (2.04.2014)

In a creative way the International Children’s Book Day was celebrated and Saita Publications travelled to Rafina at the Public Library of Rafina-Pikermi municipality through the fairytale “Water and Soil” by Sophia Politou Ververi and Vivi Markatos, the illustrator.

This invitation to the presentation and my participation afterwards along with all these fascinating little friends who came to meet me was an important experience to me. Who came to listen to me and the author; to see me; to see my work. I will share something I said to those new friends I made - and believe me I made quite a lot - that the thing I presented was not “my work” but the colors and the drawings on an empty page.

“The Magic Bookmark” continues its visits to kindergartens! This morning from 10:15 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. it spent time with the young students of private kindergarten “The Blue Balloon” in Kavala.
